Boxi Math

About

Every child deserves to understand why maths works — not only the children whose parents can pay for a good tutor.

Boxi Math makes short videos that each answer one “why”: why 8 + 5 is easier if you split the 5, why 1/2 and 2/4 are the same point, why a negative times a negative is positive. Each one is drawn so you can see the idea, names the common mix-up it fixes, and shows where the picture stops working.

How it is organised

By stage, not by school year. Children move on when an idea makes sense, and school years differ from country to country anyway, so every video lists the matching year in China, the US, the UK and Singapore. Under the stages are six seeds — habits of mind worth planting early, like “the equals sign is a balance” and “mistakes are fine, try it”.
